Join us for Winter Training!

Join us for Winter Training!

It may be a little too cold to row on the water in New England during the winter, but that doesn’t mean we stop our training. We simply move indoors and focus on the fitness aspect and race on rowing machines (”ergs”) instead. Whether you’re a seasoned rower or have never tried it, you’re welcome to join us for the winter.

You can sign up here, or at Howland Place Fitness and feel free to call or email with any questions!

Andrew Pereira

Andrew Pereira

Great news! The Standard-Times wrote an article about our very own Andrew Pereira. He’s been doing a great job and it’s wonderful to see his accomplishments get recognition. It’s also great for our sport and our club, both of which are mostly unknown to the area.

Great job, Andrew!! And the rest of our rowers are also amazing. Good things are happening here!

Cuttyhunk Evening Cruise To Support NBCR!

On Wednesday, June 15th, the captain of the boat to Cuttyhunk Island is going to let us have a fun trip to raise money for the club. We suffered a lot of damage to our fleet of boats during a bad wind storm on April 13th. Captain Jono Billings heard about it and offered to help us raise money to replace the damaged boats.

Tickets to and from Cuttyhunk Island will be $45 and we’ll provide some delicious light bites from Cork Wine & Tapas. We’ll be on the boat from 6-8pm and the boat will have a cash bar available. Please join us and support our club as we rebuild our fleet, while you enjoy a fantastic evening aboard a great boat!  A link to purchase tickets can be found HERE.  The Ferry will be leaving from 66B State Pier, South Bulkhead, New Bedford, MA 02740.

Thanks for all of the wonderful support we’ve received so far!

Fall Regatta

Fall Regatta

Sunday, October 9th, 2011 will be our second annual New Bedford Popes Island Regatta!  It will include events for Masters, Open, High School, Junior, and Novice entries and is a 5,000 meter loop course.  It incorporates 2 bridges and a 180 degree turn, so it’s great practice for the Head of the Charles Regatta two weeks later.  Come join us!  Registration will be through Regatta Central but you can contact us with any questions at carolyn@communityrowing.org.

Results!

Results!

The results are in from New Bedford Community Rowing’s very first sprint race on the upper Acushnet River!  We were very excited to host a 900 meter race on our home course and were joined by Boys-Row-Boston, and G-Row.  Many of these kids have only been rowing for a matter of weeks, so it was great first racing experience for them all.  Great job rowers!
